How to Uninstall Chrome OS Flex on Your Chromebook

Chrome OS Flex is a feature that allows users to run Windows apps on their Chromebooks. While this can be convenient for certain tasks, some users may want to remove Chrome OS Flex in order to free up storage space or improve system performance.

Step 1: Check if Chrome OS Flex is Installed

Before you can remove Chrome OS Flex, you need to make sure that it is actually installed on your Chromebook. To check, follow these steps:

  1. Click the clock in the bottom right corner of the screen
  2. Click the gear icon to open the settings menu
  3. Click "About Chrome OS" in the left menu
  4. Click the "Detailed build information" link
  5. If "arcvm" appears in the list of components, then Chrome OS Flex is installed on your Chromebook

Step 2: Disable Chrome OS Flex

If you want to temporarily stop using Chrome OS Flex but keep it installed on your system, you can disable it by following these steps:

  1. Open the Chrome browser
  2. Type "chrome://flags" into the address bar and press Enter
  3. Search for "ARCVM" using the search bar
  4. Click the dropdown menu next to "ARCVM" and select "Disabled"
  5. Click "Restart" to apply the changes

Step 3: Uninstall Chrome OS Flex

If you want to completely remove Chrome OS Flex from your Chromebook, you can do so by following these steps:

  1. Press the Ctrl + Alt + T keys to open the Crosh terminal
  2. Type "vmc stop all" and press Enter
  3. Type "vmc delete all" and press Enter
  4. Type "sudo rm -rf /home/root/termina" and press Enter
  5. Type "sudo reboot" and press Enter to restart your Chromebook

After your Chromebook has restarted, Chrome OS Flex should no longer be installed on your system.
